What happens to the traffic that traditional sensors don’t capture?

On 24 September 2026, OmniFlow will be presented at Smart Traffic: Data, Control, Development, taking place at the Riga Motor Museum. The event will bring together representatives of public authorities, municipalities, the transport sector and technology companies to discuss how data and new technologies can contribute to better transport planning and management.

As Edgars Starkis, Head of Fits Traffic at dots., explains:

”Developing thoughtful and effective traffic systems isn't just about introducing new technologies - it requires a shared understanding of how to use data to improve road safety, manage infrastructure more efficiently, and shape mobility that meets society's needs. That's why it's essential to bring state institutions, municipalities, the transport industry, and technology companies to the same table, to exchange practical experience and jointly outline future directions for development."

As part of the programme, Katrina Anna Ozola, dots., Client Relations Specialist and OmniFlow Consortium Coordinator, will present “The traffic that slips past sensors: the OmniFlow approach.”

The presentation will introduce how OmniFlow explores the use of aggregated mobile network data together with existing traffic information to help fill gaps in traditional traffic monitoring and provide a broader understanding of mobility and traffic patterns, including areas where physical sensor coverage is limited.

The wider event programme will address topics including traffic monitoring and safety, the use of telecom data for mobility, autonomous transport development and funding opportunities for new transport solutions.
